The Award of Exemplary Conservation 2011

The second annual competition for the best restored house in the Lesser Carpathian region was
festively evaluated on March 22 in the Information Centre in Svätý Jur. Ten nominated objects competing for the favour of public and jury were an interesting and at the same time a representative sample of positive restoration.

The Prize of the Public was won by the wine-grower’s house “Stone Yard” in SvätĂ˝ Jur, the Prize of the Expert Jury was awarded to the farmcraftsman’s house in Budmerice, a unique authentic example of a preserved rural house. Owners of the awarded houses received the traditional prize – a hand-painted ceramic plaque, which can be placed on the object’s facade, to draw attention of passers-by to the “exemplary
restoration”. Owners of all nominated objects received an honorary certificate as appreciation of the sensitive renewal respecting the qualities and values of the historic building. Along with the Award Ceremony an exhibition of the nominated objects was presented. It will be touring in the
Bratislava region to popularize renewal of the architectural heritage.
