Course for Public Administration and Self Government
Training activities prepared for civil servants and representatives of self-governments represents the biggest part of training activities organized by the experts in a field of European Integration in recent years.
Three-month-long courses (each in duration of 160 hours) on European Integration – Institutional, Legal and Economic Aspects took place in 2006. Courses gave participants an integrated knowledge of legal framework of the EU, of EU institutions and their role in decision-making, introduced chosen activities of EU, particularly common market and regional policy and its instruments – structural funds. Special issues were relations between EU and member states, possible ways how the Slovak Republic can influence decision-making in the EU, how the representatives of the SR can effectively take part in working groups in the European institutions, commitments resulting from European legislation as well as consequences of its infringement. Besides thematic lectures of various aspects of European integration, there were sessions on specialized EU English terminology, presentation skills and project management. The lectures were presented by Slovak and foreign lecturers. Two of them were prepared in Slovak, and the other in English. The European Studies department also organized three 1-week courses for advanced in EU issues meant as follow-up courses in summer 2006. Around 150 participants from state administration and self-governments completed these courses.
On the basis of recent positive experience and success of courses on European integration European studies department offers courses on European Integration – Institutional, Legal and Economic Aspects also in 2007. These courses are accredited by the Ministry of Education in two models: as a 160 hour course and as a 35 hour course. Both of them can be performed either in Slovak or in English. The financial support of these courses by European Social Fund finished in 2006 therefore the costs are to be paid by participants according to agreement and number of participants.
The AINova staff organizes, also upon request, short-term courses on specialized European topics, e.g. e-governance, commitology, recent trends in case law of Court of Justice, training of negotiation and presentation skills.
