Project E-School for Sustainability in the Danube Region “eSchool4s” (2014-2016)

From 2014 to 2016 AINova participated at the educational project prepared in the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme n. eSchool4S_539075-LLP-2013-DE-COMENIUS-CNW. The goal of the project eSchool4S was to set up a transnational e-learning platform for collaborative learning. Created network of the project eSchool4S united 10 partners from Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania who are specialized in different relevant fields of expertise and were brought together to pursue a common goal – bring sustainable development and European integration to schools.

Aim of the project:

eSchool4S designed an operational e-platform for cooperation and exchange of information and experiences in the field of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and developed interactive and web-based teaching and learning concepts to cover cross-border issues in the fields of sustainable development and European integration. The approach brought together decision-makers, (in-service) teacher training institutions, schools, and students across the Danube Region to raise their ecological awareness and to promote inclusion of these issues into the school curricula. Students and teachers learned to which extent there is interdependence between social, economic, environmental, and political development of a country, and why the balanced interplay of the development dimensions is a condition for sustainable development at national, regional and European level. Students improved their computer skills, cognitive competences, communication as well as soft skills.

 

Innovations:
1/ Establishment and capacity development of a regional network of teacher training institutions, schools, teachers and classes;
2/ Development, implementation and demonstration of an innovative concept for international, interdisciplinary and interactive web-based classrooms for secondary schools;
3/ Introduction and promotion of ESD and relevant EU policies and strategies in the curricula of secondary schools in the countries of the Danube Region.

- Baseline study on the status of innovations in the thematic fields of the eSchool4S

- Increased awareness of teachers and students about EU and SD
- Improved digital competence, social skills, attitudes, values
- Understanding for interrelatedness of economic, cultural, social, and environmental issues for sustainable development
